France's elite police unit, the Ground Forces of National Security (GIGN), successfully freed a Swiss citizen abducted in Valence on August 31. The victim was held hostage for a ransom demanded in cryptocurrency.

Seven suspects were arrested in connection with the case, highlighting the growing intersection of physical crime and digital asset extortion.
